Borussia Dortmund have submitted their initial bid for Manchester City right-back Yan Couto, valued at around €30 million.
Signing a new right-back is Borussia Dortmund’s top priority, as revealed by CEO Lars Ricken earlier on Monday. The Black and Yellows are pressing ahead with their plans to sign Yan Couto, who is said to be their top target for the right-back position.
According to Sky Sport, Borussia Dortmund have submitted their first official bid for the 22-year-old. He is valued at around €20 million by Borussia Dortmund, while Manchester City want around €30 million. Couto’s current contract with Manchester City is set to expire at the end of next season.
The two clubs hope to conclude negotiations and reach an agreement on the transfer fee in the coming days. Borussia Dortmund already have an agreement in place on personal terms with Couto.
The Brazil international is enjoying a superb season with Girona, helping them qualify for the Champions League with ten assists and two goals in 39 appearances across all competitions. His performances also helped him earn his first call-up to the Brazil national team in October.
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Yan Couto as Julian Ryerson is the only natural right-back in the squad at the moment.
It was also reported that BVB could sign a new left-back, but Ricken said earlier on Monday that he is backing Ramy Bensebaini and Tom Rothe to share responsibility in that position.
