Edinburgh city centre road closed after pedestrian hit by bus

A road in Edinburgh city centre has been blocked after a pedestrian was hit by a bus.

Emergency services were called to Shandwick Place at around 2.40pm on Friday.

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a bus. His current condition is unknown.

The road was closed in both directions following the incident.

Due to an incident in Edinburgh, services will divert via Princes Street, Fredrick Street Charlot Street and Ryans Bar outbound.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 2.40pm on Friday 23 August 2024, we were called to a report of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian on Shandwick Place, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services were called and the pedestrian was taken to hospital.

“The road is closed and investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
