Norwich have agreed to sell winger Jonathan Rowe to Marseille in a £17m deal.
The 21-year-old is set to move to the Stade Velodrome on loan, with an obligation to buy for £14m plus £3m in add-ons – with Norwich also including a sell-on clause.
Marseille have had previous bids rejected for the England Under-21 international, but he is now set to join manager Roberto de Zerbi in the south of France.
Canaries coach Johannes Hoff Thorup said this month that Rowe had refused to play in the opening 2-0 defeat to Oxford due to interest from the Ligue 1 club.
He was training with the club’s under-21 team and did not feature in Norwich’s Carabao Cup win over Stevenage and 2–2 draw with Blackburn in the Championship.
Rowe, who came through the club’s academy, scored 13 goals in 38 games last season as the Canaries lost to Leeds in the Championship play-off semi-final.
It comes after 21-year-old striker Abu Kamara, who is wanted by Portsmouth, handed in a transfer request this week, while the Canaries also sold striker Adam Idah to Celtic.
They are close to signing striker Ante Crnac from Polish side Rakow Czestochowa, with the 20-year-old Croatian – who scored eight goals in 26 league appearances last season – seen as a direct replacement for Idah.
